RIM Shows Off the Playbook

RIM has finally decided it can let someone who doesn’t work for them actually touch their iPad competitor, the Playbook, for the first time at CES. Surprisingly, it might not be totally crappy despite RIM’s total inability to innovate in the smartphone world over the past few years. Read engadget’s preview of the device as well as see some videos of it in action here.

CES: Google introduces Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), Microsoft shows Surface 2.0

So if you don’t know, this week is the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas so get ready for tons of new tech goodies. First off, Google has just officially announced the newest version of Android that is “entirely for tablet.” You can check out the intro video here. Microsoft is showing off its newest version of Surface, the table based computer that almost no one used, and it actually might be cool. It has infrared “pixel sense” so it can detect more than just a few fingers; in the demo someone wrote on a piece of paper and held it up to the Surface and it was able to scan it in. You can read more about it on engadget.
